The newest pop-up in Dubai’s DIFC is an exhibition not to be missed. Italian fashion house, Gucci, and art magazine, Canvas ( ), have collaborated together in the “Icons for Icons” exhibit to pay tribute to the talented people of the UAE, and to incite inspiration within others. Their stories tell of their rich heritage that remains intact, while at the same time bare witness to them breaking barriers and becoming trendsetters. A visual metaphor for the current state of the United Arab Emirates, the concept touched on many relevant phenomena taking place within the region. As young Emiratis fight to keep the balance between tradition and evolution, Icons for Icons is a celebration of these leaders, who have turned their aspirations into a reality.
Classic Gucci loafers paired with the traditional Kandora displays this integration, while keeping to tradition alive. The UAE has amazed the world with its vision, and these people act as their ambassadors of change.
