Wait a second… what?! Alber Elbaz? Dubai? LANVIN?First Israeli designer in Dubai?
Don’t give me the side eye. On April 15 the appearance of a lifetime occurred, and luckily I happened to be there. The region’s most accomplished fashion stylists, designers, and editors all flocked to meet their messiah: Alber Elbaz. Even though its been a few days, I’m still fan-girling over meeting head designer of Lanvin, Alber Elbaz *sigh*
The Lanvin ballroom had a classic French salon atmosphere emphasized with fresh flowers, hand-made gold antique wood, silk jacquard furniture and cushions made from the Winter 2015 collection fabric. Lanvin presented to spectators 34 new looks from the winter 2015 collection. I can’t even start describing the intricate design featured that evening without going becoming depressed that its over. The walkway featured Moroccan themed long flowy gowns, to embroidered jumpsuits and jackets; the collection showcased the brands’ elegant side and was juxtaposed with its signature avant-garde edge. The event included a open fashion discussion which us fashion die hards were grateful for, Alber Elbaz gave an entrancing presentation while we nibbled on bite-sized treats, colorful macaroons, mini éclairs and scones.
Free flowing bubbles and an eight meter long buffet displayed with candelabras, flowers and food added to the majestic event. We all danced through the night with the DJ and live music backing us up with songs we all knew, electrifying our sense and hyping us up. The designer wanted the evening to “have a feeling that we are inviting everybody to the garden of their grandmother for a drink. It’s not a big thing,” Alber Elbaz told Bazaar editor-in-chief Louise Nichol on the morning of the event. psshhh… Not a big thing if your grandma was Miss Havishham from great expectations.
All the guests proudly shared their experiences through social media #LANVIN, #ALBERELBAZ dominated social media. I took close to 3000 selfies during the event; not as bad as Kim Kardashian…? I hope. Well now onto the selfie that trumped all others! Yes I got the man of the evening Alber Elbaz, or should I say I got an usie with him? Hatem Alakeel shared the spotlight with me as we both posed next to the fashion genius. You should’ve seen Hatem Alakeel showing off his French!?! Only French I know is “Vouler Vous Coucher Avec moi ce soir”
The Alber Elbaz Dubai takeover was everything fashion fans thought it would be eccentric, glamorous, graceful, and mind-bogglingly extravagant.
