You may be thinking: It’s barely even fall yet!? Why are we talking about Spring-Summer?!
Well, my budding fashionista, in the fashion world it’s during the runway and trade shows that next year’s trends are revealed and true fashion addicts plan their wish lists and decide on their “must-haves.” (That’s right. We may not be organized when it comes to our credit card bills, but we turn Obsessive Compulsive when planning next year’s wardrobe!) Arab News decided to help you steal Spring/Summer 2011 styles with an easy cheat sheet. Using looks fresh off the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, we’re giving you a heads up on what’s to come. We’ll let you know which things to hold onto for next spring and what things to pass up. Here it is:
Neutrals: In 2011, Spring ushers in a mélange of beiges and tans.
These colors are cool and work great with either fair or tan skin. Keep your camel Burberry trench for spring showers in London and invest in sleek light neutral dress that can easily transform from day-to-night with a simple change from flats to heels.
Military: 2011 is the year of tailored cuts and sophisticated minimalism.
Everything is intentional. Nothing shows off that more than the military
references — with high waist paints and fitted jackets. George Chakra
miraculously transformed linear designs to undulate with the curves of
the female body. The result: stunning evening and cocktail dresses that
fashionistas and fashion editors have been lusting over since they debuted down the runway.
Prints:
Bold animal prints sneak their way onto the catwalk this year, while color is introduced in graphic prints. Prints are not only fun, they’re attention-grabbing too! People won’t be able to help themselves from complimenting you!
Sheer material:
Organza, chiffon and light silks were the fabrics for the season. Designers kept things light with these luxurious materials, while others made things rich with elaborate cutouts and handsewn lace.
