GLITTERING GALA EVENT ATTRACTS HIGH SOCIETY
Abu Dhabi,UAE – DFS Group, the world’s leading luxury travel retailer, showcased its inaugural Masters of Fragrances exhibition and gala on Thursday, the 10th of April in Abu Dhabi to a host of local socialites. This was the first event of its kind and one of the most impressive retail fragrance events the world has ever seen.
Hundreds of the region’s elite attended the spectacular invitation-only gala at the Manarat Al Saadiyat Gallery in Abu Dhabi. His Highness Sheikh Majid Al Sabah, Kuwaiti royal family and founder of innovative perfume house, The Fragrance kitchen, and Mohammad Al Bulooki, Chief Commercial Officer of Abu Dhabi Airports were present to witness this unique exhibition. Guests also included Dubai-based lifestyle editor and award-winning blogger, Tala Samman ( @myfashdiary ), and award winning architect and jewelry designer, Andre C Meyerhans, Dubai TV presenter, Diala Makki ( @dialamakki ), and the infamous Koch brothers ( @DerekandDaniel ) of E! Entertainment’s ‘Playing with Fire’ series added an extra element of glamour and excitement to the occasion. Representatives from the international media were also present at the event to celebrate with DFS senior personnel and esteemed brand partners. The distinguished guests were welcomed by DFS executives, led by Philippe Schaus, Chairman and CEO of DFS Group.
Michael Edwards, the perfume expert, author and industry ambassador, provided a wonderfully fragrant element of theatre to the evening with a scent workshop in partnership with Guerlain. Michael shared his knowledge and passion for fragrances with guests and offered them the opportunity to experience these unique scents while explaining the history of the infamous fashion and fragrance Maisons involved.
Guests marvelled at spectacular floral installations by the Antwerp based florist, Mark Colle, who is best known for his inspirational work with fashion brands including Dior and Jil Sander. Guests also enjoyed experiencing bespoke sensory areas created by Ajmal, Bond No. 9, The Different Company, Dior and Guerlain. Throughout the evening, the Champagne bar flowed, and delicious canapés by FANR were served.
During the gala event, guests were able to view the finely curated display of 26 distinctive fragrances from 22 of the world’s most legendary fragrance Maisons and boutique artisan brands. With brands including Dior, Guerlain, Amouage, Bvlgari, Salvatore Ferragamo, Armani Privé and Estée Lauder on display, and many fragrances created especially for Masters of Fragrances, attendees were able to experience the individual scents and interact with the brand experts and DFS representatives in attendance. Highlights from the exhibition include Guerlain Le Secret de la Reine, rock crystal and platinum fashioned in the form of a bee with 14 carats of diamonds; Bvlgari Opera Prima made from Italian Venini glass adorned with diamonds and citrine and Amouage Rock Crystal Bottles hand sculpted using 18th century techniques.

The DFS fragrance exhibition was moved to Abu Dhabi International Airport Terminal 1 on April 11th, where it will be on display for travellers until June 12th, 2014. The exhibition will offer travellers the opportunity to enjoy the creative presentation and shop the exclusive fragrance collection.
