Having graduated with an architecture degree, Anas Younis Shanaah, designer of the Aennis Eunis brand at Level Shoe District found his combined passion for architectural creations and fashion.

Bringing a unique and exotic feel to Level Shoe District, Anas designs a pop up store currently set up at Level till the end of August, inspired by Arabic Calligraphy.

Using various structural elements combined with calligraphy, Anas introduces new dimensions to his work and, as he stated, is ‘a call from the past’.

Below is a short Q&A by Level Shoe District with the designer, Anas, that conveys his inspiration behind his beautiful and unique collection.

What was your inspiration behind the designs of this collection?

The inspiration is always a marriage of two basic elements: women, femininity, beauty, etc… and to show the “Arabic” influence and to render its beauty as an important feature in the designs.

These are the two main components. Then every season I work around a theme to group all the designs and give them unity in colors, shapes and textures.

This season (AW14), it was The Alchemist (Paulo Coelho). There are hints from the story shown in the transformation of colors and mystery in hidden lines and sudden reappearance of textures.

Any advice for shoe lovers around the world?

I tell shoe lovers to look around and explore more in the world of shoes.

There are many great designers out there, and you are their audience.

Great concepts such as Level Shoe District provide a wonderful opportunity for designers and shoe lovers to meet.
