As the musical chair of fashion designers continue, this season more than one French fashion house has a new creative director. Based on what the new comers will bring to the table, our most anticipated shows of Paris Fashion Week are the following:
1- SAINT LAURENT
Six months ago, after much speculation, Saint Laurent announced the departure of Hedi Slimane, the designer who changed everything! Last April, Antony Vaccarello was appointed the new designer of the house after leaving Versus. We’re curious to see if Saint Laurent will go through another drastic change when Vaccarello will showcase his debut collection.
2- LANVIN
After 13 years, as an Artistic Director Alber Elbaz and Lanvin parted ways. After the news came out, we were all wondering who would fill in these shoes. In March 2016, Bouchra Jarrar was named the Creative Director for all womenswear collection. As someone who has worked with Balenciaga for 10 years, and Christian Lacroix, we can’t wait to see the new era of Lanvin!
3- CHRISTIAN DIOR
Since Raf Simons departure in 2015, Dior has been struggling to find the perfect replacement. After two seasons, of being handled by the brand’s studio team, Dior named Maria Grazia Chiuri, as their new creative director, making her the first female designer for the brand. We’re eager to see her own aesthetic, as she was co-designing before at Valentino.
4- VALENTINO
Valentino’s collections are always related to a story, either a fairytale or a world that is synonyms to discipline and elegance such as Opera and Ballet. This season will be Pierpaolo Piccioli first sole collection for Valentino. We’re very curious to see the new narrative of the brand; will we recognize Valentino without Maria Grazia Chiuri?
5- CHANEL
From supermarkets to airports, icebergs to brasseries, Karl Lagerfeld always come up the most interesting sets for Chanel, although held in the same venue. Season after season, he manages to transport us into the Chanel World, leaving us in awe every single time. Even more than the clothes, we can’t wait to see what he comes up with this season.
