Thankfully, us Saudis are still on Ramadan time and were able to stay up to catch glimpses of the most international catwalk out there— the 2016 Olympic Opening at Rio! And who better than Brazil’s most famous export, super model Gisele Bündchen to open the show in a beautiful Alexandre Herchcovitch glitter gown. But it wasn’t the Brazilian beauties who stole the show— or an oily flag bearer from Tonga— but rather the countries themselves! Here’s our list of the top 5 costumes seen at the Olympic’s Opening.

While most countries decided to dress their athletes like American flight attendants (sorry, Delta!), Saudi went traditional, having the Art of Heritage design and make their customary thobes in shalky fabric!2. If there’s one name synonymous with American Sports-wear, it’s Ralph Lauren! Navy blazers over a patriotic shirt of red, white and blue stripes was a classic ode to the American dream—and evoked nostalgic imagery of cloudy days in the Hamptons… that is, before the Kardashians and Revolve trashed it up! Oh, yes, we went there!3. While Great Britain’s latest Brexit may have ostracized itself from the “cool kids” group in Europe, their white space jackets and gold trim have them channeling Donald Trump and his “I don’t care” attitude!4. India had the best traditional outfits and they know it! Rocking their yellow turbans and beautiful Saris, the nation had Hymning For The Weekend— Beyonce style!5. Sweden proves that no one does “Americana” better than the Swedish! The outfits looked like a Gap ad on acid and we loved the return to a stylized era when our greatest threat to consumerism was Tickle-Me-Elmo… Not a fuzzy, orange gorilla named Trump!
