What really changed Milan’s fashion scene for me this year was not so much the fashion as the people behind it..It was heart breaking to know, as I watched Missoni‘s brilliant runway mix of comfort (perhaps symbolizing the comfort we await upon his return) and power (the power to go on) that resulted in a beautiful put collection, that the man himself Vittorio Missoni wasn’t there to see it. Had he been there, he would’ve been proud just like we all were….The fashion on the other hand couldn’t have been more ‘Italian’…with Donatella Versace‘s sexy badass elegance being probably more Versace than any other time what with her studded bras and patent gowns! And with Emilio Pucci‘s mix of Pucci print short skirts, knee-high suede boots, I couldn’t help but indulge in the sex that strutted down Peter Dundas‘ runway! I was never really a fan of Prada‘s rtw but I finally loved their runway with it’s Hitchcock heroins – Miuccia nailed it!
And finally Dolce&Gabbana – wow, where do I begin! Trust my fav duo to make mosaic print look glamorous & elegant. But then what can’t they pull off! I can’t remember the last time I didn’t like a DG collection. No matter what it is these two turn anything into brilliant fashion! And the details, the details, the details – no one does details quite like Domenico & Stefano. This collection said diva, divine, dreamy, glamorous, feminine, romantic, sexy, elegant, classic, sophisticated, regal, luxury, to-die-for all in one! And not to mention the jaw-dropping finale! Bellissima! Si, no one does it like DolceGabbana - there’s a reason it is my number one brand in the world! They are the Kings of Italian fashion…and the main reason I look forward to MFW!
As the fashion crowd leaves to the city of love, here’s what I loved & hated both on and off the runways – from the fashion on the streets right down to the accessories on the catwalk – at one of my favourite fashion weeks of all – Milano!
