Though she’s been modeling since 2010, Herieth Paul experienced a breakthrough this year snagging a Maybelline New York contract, work with Proenza Schouler, and now Victoria’s Secret. More than just a beautiful face, Paul devotes her time (and a portion of her income) to providing educations for the girls of the orphanage run by her mother back home in Tanzania.

After causing a sensation on the runway at Anthony Vaccarello’s first Saint Laurent show, Jourdana Phillips and her platinum Afro brought something different to Paris Fashion Week. One look at Luma Grothe and you understand why she’s been on the brand’s radar; her striking good looks speak for themselves, yet Grothe wasn’t always on a path to be a model. It took plenty of convincing from her best friend before she entered a local contest, but she was signed shortly thereafter. Currently, a L’Oréal Paris spokeswoman and the face of labels like Dolce & Gabbana, Grothe’s success proves that BFFs know best.

13- Maggie Laine

maggie-laine-vs First spotted on Facebook by the photographer Sammie Saxon, Maggie Laine has been a model with a mission ever since. Back in 2014, she told Italian Vogue that she wants to walk for Victoria’s Secret, land the cover of Sports Illustrated, and become a physical therapist. With her VS confirmation, she’s already tackled one goal and put herself on the path toward completing the rest.

14- Megan Williams
